Development Engineer

Digital Audio Research - July 1988 to December 1990

DAR is a niche manufacturer of digital audio production and editing systems for the film and video markets.

Developed a multi-processor audio DSP engine based on the Motorola DSP56001 24 bit signal processor chip.

Each board contained four DSPs for audio processing and one for routing. A daughter board with an additional 6 audio DSPs could be added for extra processing power.

Also wrote all of the hard real time DSP assembler code for signal routing and control in the audio engine.

Achievements

. Packed a lot of processing power into a small space
. Learned to write fast, compact DSP assembler code
