Senior Software Engineer

Lightworks - July 1996 to December 1997

Lightworks was a pioneer of offline video editing, and had grown rapidly as the leading provider of computer-based film editing systems to Hollywood. At the time of joining joined, it had recently been bought by Tektronix as a part of its strategy to grow a Video and Networking Division. Tektronix was unable to integrate the company into its operations, eventually selling the assets in 1999.

For the first year, worked with the Principal Engineer on some innovative ideas for next generation editing systems. At the same time, championed process improvement in the group as a whole. In final six months developed software in Visual C++ to control external digital vision mixers and effects from the VIP4500 online video editing system.

Achievements

· Introduced change into a disorganised and divided team
· Identified and dealt with problems with key personnel
· Built a knowledge base for the development group
· Produced complex and high quality code to control external systems
